 In 1999 the SHOA Board presented a "Five Year Plan" to rebuild Somerset's very old and very small pool house. The original pool house consisted of a tiny square room with a counter, shelves, sink, refrigerator, and storage for the pool and swim team, and men's and women's bathrooms. In 2001, a large grassroots volunteer group of dedicated Somerset homeowners created the Somerset Women's Club (SWC) and the pool house renovation became a dream for a Somerset Clubhouse.  A SHOA Building Committee was formed to make this dream come true. The Building Committee worked tirelessly to find contractors to draw a blueprint and build the clubhouse. The Committee worked closely with the SWC to raise funds needed to enhance the SHOA money already put aside for the Five Year Plan. The SWC made fund raising their duty for two years.  But in the process, they were able to do community outreach projects and created Sunshine for Somerset neighbors in need. Somerset became a true neighborhood in this enhancement effort. The groundbreaking took place November 2002 and the Clubhouse was complete March 2003. The results are amazing!  The Somerset Clubhouse is a beautiful structure with a fully stocked kitchen and large event room with furniture. It also includes china settings for 40 people, chafing dishes, extra folding tables and chairs, and media equipment. The clubhouse holds 40 people sit down or 60 for buffet. It is a perfect place to gather with friends, family, and neighbors. The Somerset Clubhouse is not for daily usage by the patrons of the pool. It is only open for usage for community based events, or pre-arranged personal events. At all other times the facility is closed to the public.

One final note: With all the energy from Somerset to keep beautifying the neighborhood, the bridge to the pool/tennis area, the dock, and the bulletin boards were also replaced. Somerset is a true community with spirit and direction. The SHOA Board and SHOA members work hard to make this a wonderful place to live.
