Pool Rules

The Somerset Pool is a fun, active place to be in the summer. To ensure everyone’s safety we ask everyone to please follow the pool rules listed below.

POOL HOURS
  • The standard hours for lifeguards will be from 12:30 to 9:00 pm. Lifeguards will be available on the weekends starting May 8th, and then available daily after May 26th.
  • Extended Hour Access is available to members from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm, seven days a week. The Facility Access/SAYOR Card and a signed waiver form are required for swim-at-your-own-risk extended hour access. Lifeguards are NOT on duty during these hours. You can order additional cards for family members or to replace lost cards (@ $25) and electronic wristbands ($10)
  • The pool may be closed for any necessary maintenance, adverse weather conditions, or for any reason deemed necessary by the pool manager or SHOA Pool Chair. Advance notice of such action will be given to members if possible. Lifeguards may also immediately close the pool in case of inclement weather.
  • Membership for a babysitter for children of member households is included in the membership for that family while s/he is providing childcare for those children.

The Somerset pool offers flexible summer hours. If you are sending children between the ages of 13-17 to the pool unsupervised, please be sure to check the lifeguard hours. For children 9-12, please see age restrictions below.  Children under the age of 17 can not use the pool without a lifeguard on duty or accompanied by an adult during swim-at-your-own-risk hours.

PROOF OF MEMBERSHIP

Facility access: In order to make sure that only those members use the pool who have paid their annual swim & tennis dues, the outer pool door will be permanently locked and all paid swim & tennis members will have to use a Facility Access Card to enter the pool building.

New members will be issued this card free of charge and may use the card for the current and subsequent years in which they are paid Swim & Tennis members. Prior year pool members may continue to use their Facility Access/SAYOR cards. Each swim & tennis member will be required to sign the Somerset Facility Access Card and Swim at Your Own Risk waiver form. If you currently have a SAYOR card and a waiver form on file, you may continue to use this to access the pool building.

  1. If you do not yet have a Facility Access/SAYOR card, please be sure to pay your dues and complete the online waiver. Dues and Donations Form
  2. Once you have submitted the signed waiver form, your Facility Access/SAYOR card will be activated.

Membership for a babysitter for children of member households is included in the membership for that family while s/he is providing childcare for those children.

We ask all swim/tennis members to bring their access cards to the pool. Lifeguards will be performing spot checks to ensure all pool users are paid swim/tennis members.

GUESTS POLICY

Members are permitted to bring guests to the pool under the following conditions:

  1. Each member household is permitted to bring guests FOUR times each season.
  2. Somerset residents may not be guests of the pool or tennis courts. They are welcome to join Swim & Tennis as paying members.
  3. A maximum of five guests is permitted at one time. This is intended to permit family or friends visiting from out of town, or a small birthday party to use pool facilities.
  4. Guests MUST be accompanied by the member at all times.
  5. Members must notify the lifeguard on duty that they have guests with them. The lifeguards will keep a log of guest attendance.

Who doesn’t like hanging at the pool with friends? However please be respectful of all members and review our guest policy before bringing guests to the pool.

AGE RESTRICTIONS
  1. Children of member households who are age 13 and older may use the pool without parent or guardian supervision only during normal pool hours when a lifeguard is present.
  2. Children of member households ages 9 to 12 may use the pool without parent or guardian supervision during normal pool hours under the following conditions:
    1. The parent of each child has signed the Parent Permission Form.
    2. The child must pass a basic swim test to be administered by the lifeguard. The child must be able to swim the length of the pool without a floatation device and unassisted by others and must be able to tread water in the deep end of the pool for at least one minute.
    3. The lifeguard will issue a badge to each child who meets these qualifications. The child must bring the badge with them to the pool.
